Thailand Recap {Part I}

Hey Friends!

I am back from Thailand, still not fully recovered and very jet-lagged. There is something that makes you feel crazy for needing an afternoon nap so bad but not being able to sleep through the night...but nonetheless that is the vicious cycle I am in! I am breaking this up into a couple of parts so you don't get bored and stop reading! I just have so many stories and lessons I learned, but today its all about the mission!

Thailand is a country that is majority Buddhist and a country that that values education. Our goal of the trip was to simply teach english through bible stories, songs and games like a vbs.  We are able to come in and teach at a variety of schools simply because we  are Americans that can teach their students english. We partner with a fantastic school called GES, aka the Global English School, where they get to build relationships with the schools long after we are gone and they are teaching english through the bible every day to their students at the school! In the short time we were there this time we got to teach in a variety of different schools and to all ages from elementary to college including teachers! We also got to go into a muslim school for the first time which was an amazing day where we got to really love on some kids and they loved us in return!

I had the honor of leading this team this year. Which consisted of 10 other solid believers. We bonded into a little family quickly and learned how to serve each other in just a short time. The team worked really hard and loved on our partnerships in country so well. I got to experience being a team leader and while it was fun, its not all its cracked up to be. It was hard and the Lord was working in me in ways I never expected all the while I had to care for these 10 hoodlums and had no one to vent to, but the Lord. The week taught me how much I depend on other people and how little I depend on the Lord and it was a great time of reuniting with my heavenly Father and seeking and serving him.

(Also, being a team leader meant I took less photos than normal...like way less! So my new Thai friend, Satta, who was there to save the day! Some of his photos are included here! He is a fantastic photographer, you can check out his work here: http://www.sattaphoto.us/)

Enjoy some photos from the first 3 ministry days, more photos to come later!
